Project Overview
Perry & Associates was chosen by the Swedish American Museum to provide structural engineering design for a new faux water tank atop of their museum. This water tank serves as an integral part of the appearance of the museum and a neighborhood landmark. This massive tank measured over 20 feet in diameter and over 20 feet tall. The client wished to place this take on the pre-existing steel roof tower. Plans were prepared in coordination with the architect and design team to keep the project on schedule.
Perry & Associates reviewed the existing tower framing for analysis and drawings to ensure that the tank had a sturdy base tasking into account all gravity and lateral loads. Designs were created for the connection of the tank to the tower, platform handrails, tank support structure with concrete support slab, access ladder, and analysis of the cell phone equipment. The new tank now sits proudly above the museum after the project was successfully completed.
