Project Overview
Perry & Associates designed a new 200,000 sq. ft. ground up facility for a shingle manufacturer. The facility design entailed varied components from high bay storage to process bays and material handling. The warehouse and process bays consisted of long span steel roof joist girders with perimeter braced frames.
The process and material handling components consisted of a 5 story tower atop a lower level overflow pit. The adjacent material silo enclosure tops out just under 90 feet above the site. A railroad unloading pit and truck unloading bring in raw materials that are elevated to the silo tops for distribution. Adjacent containment areas and tank farms were also designed by Perry & Associates with connecting utility bridges. Within the plant, overhead cranes service the processing line as well as the shop area, blower room and tower. Slabs on grade are designed for heavy rack storage and for fork truck dynamics.
