Project Overview
Perry & Associates responded to an emergency call from American Airlines in the fall of 2009.
Hanger 760 is a one-story high bay steel frame building that had experienced a water main rupture beneath the concrete floor slab. The scope of work was to visually inspect the damage caused to the floor slab and CMU partition walls.
Perry & Associates recommended removal and replacement of the concrete floor slab as various electrical runs were cast in the original slab. If left in place this could potentially cause a safety hazard as water was entrained beneath the floor slab. We also recommended that CMU cracks be monitored to see if the walls were moving because of the ruptured water main. This monitoring took place over a two week period and the maximum movement that occurred was 1.5mm. This was thought to be minimal so the cracks were tuckpointed and the walls left in place.
